Claire Clyne is forging a multifaceted career in conducting, performance, and education. She currently works as a freelance conductor and clinician in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and maintains a private studio for piano, voice, and music theory. She is an active soprano with the Dallas Symphony Chorus and other choral groups in the Dallas area.
During her time at Royal Holloway - University of London in 2017-2018, Clyne served as conductor of The Founder’s Choir and assistant conductor of the Royal Holloway Symphony Orchestra, leading tours to Poland, France, and Germany. In addition, she served as frequent guest conductor and chorister with The Choir of Royal Holloway, known as one of the finest Collegiate Mixed Choirs in the United Kingdom.
While in Boston for graduate studies, Clyne served as the assistant conductor for the Boston Conservatory Women’s Chorus and Chorale and the assistant conductor/chorus master for the opera department, working on Nicolai’s Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, and Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. As an active member of the music education community in North Texas for six years, she held positions in elementary, middle, and high school choral programs. In addition to teaching in the public school setting, Clyne has served as an adjudicator, clinician, and collaborative pianist for soloists and high school choral programs in Boston and throughout the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex. As a member of the Dallas Symphony Chorus, she has had the privilege of singing under the direction of Joshua Habermann, Lawrence Loh, and Jaap Van Zweden.
Clyne has been selected for various conducting masterclasses in the United States and United Kingdom, most recently participating as a Conducting Fellow and Chorister at Yale’s Norfolk Chamber Music Festival under the direction of Simon Carrington.
A native of California, Clyne holds a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from Royal Holloway - University of London, a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Boston Conservatory, and a Bachelor of Music Education in piano and voice from Dallas Baptist University.
